If you don't believe the phrase, "Big things come in small packages", then you certainly haven't met, Mariann Skears, Lead Vocalist of the Lehigh Valley Country Band RapidFire. Mariann is armed with a winning combination of charm, beauty, stage presence, motivation, great vocal ability and a burning desire to do what she loves, ..."Singing and Entertaining". This comes from something that was instilled in her at an early age by her mother. Mariann says, "My mother won a talent contest when she was a young girl, and never forgot what it felt like to share what you love to do with those around you". She always told me that no other feeling could match that." Mariann was fascinated by the story her mother told her many times through the years. It was because of this story that she was bitten by the music bug, and drawn to singing herself. Mariann comes from real country roots and was brought up with greats like Johnny Cash, Tammy Wynette and Patsy Cline playing on the stereo. She started singing at an early age and even landed solo parts in music shows for her schools in Bangor, PA. By the time she was 21, she joined her first band, ..."Phoenix with Scott Sandt playing guitar, John Dudley on Bass, Kevin McGee on Drums and Dave Soborski on Guitar and Keyboards. After a long visit to friends in Arizona she came back to the Lehigh Valley and join the classic rock band Roundtrip with Mario Girella and Chris Younger on Guitar, Steve Szoldaditz on Bass, and Kieth Shriver on Drums. In the late 80's Mariann joined Keyboard Player and Female Vocalist Bambi Jones with Bambi's father Bill Jones on Guitar, Marty Benicoff on Drums and Beaver on Bass in the band Eager Beaver. Mariann has done short fill in work with other bands such as the Progressive Rock cover band Universal Mind, Dance Band, 2nd Nature, and Wedding Band The Headliners. She is happy to be back to the music of her roots with the Country Band RapidFire. With the Multi Talented Bass Player/Vocalist / Sound and Light Man / Booking Agent and Leader of the RapidFire Band Dave Ruth with the Lou Van Hauter on Drums, Marc Young on Keyboards, and at the moment a number of different talent session musicians as guitar player. At present time, We have our eye on one particular one to settle down with. Check back soon for an update on this. Mariann says,.."I am very excited to be in the RapidFire Band, Mostly because they like both Old and New Country Music. She mentions, "I fee the guys are amazing musicians and the warmest people to associate with. ... " I am truely blessed to have found them." Her favorite music artists are, Martina McBride, Linda Ronstadt, Deana Carter, Stevie Nicks Gretchen Wilson, Patsy Cline, Shania Twain, Trisha Yearwood, Jon Anderson, Mickey Thomas, Steve Walsh, Lindsey Buckingham Chris Squire and Getty Lee, Besides being a singer, Mariann is also an accomplished artist and graphic designer.
